It is important to make sure you run it long enough to ensure uniform sampling. Schellenberger et al. 2011, Biophysical Journal, introduced the mixed fraction idea, in which an assessment is made of how many points crossed the center of each dimension.

In addition, since this is computationally intensive, an optimized implementation has been published here.
