Probabilistic pathway construction

General concept

The range of known enzyme-catalyzed metabolic reactions is growing rapidly, thereby inhibiting the ability to systematically screen all possible biosynthetic pathways. Therefore, a probabilistic search of product synthesis pathways is conducted using a pathway database such as KEGG. Validity of sampled pathways are tested using FBA. Sampled pathways are each tested using FBA to maximize product yield while maintaining 80% of the WT optimal biomass. Predicted pathways that cannot carry flux are discarded as non-viable.
