Strain design with Simulated Annealing (SA)
General concept
The space of possible gene or reaction deletion strain designs can be searched using simulated annealing. This method does not require the user to specify the number of reaction deletions a priori. In the SA approach, the space of possible reaction deletions is searched in a stochasitic manner. Less optimal solutions are accepted with a probability to avoid local optima. This approach can be applied to gene or reaction deletions.
